Its time for the Midlands to give the BBC a Black Eye

In the red corner, weighing in at 120 kg, Snapper Sansi throws a right punch; For every family paying £145.50 for their TV licence, the BBC spends just £12.40 in the Midlands while investing a staggering £757.24 in London*.

In the blue corner, Blog Reader, weighing in at 111 kg staggers back stunned by this strike.

Snapper Sansi, hands raised shielding his eyes steps forward and jabs Blog Reader in the ribs: The BBC’s annual investment in the Midlands is equivalent to what they spend in London every 12 days*.

Blog Reader takes a cut to the eye. The referee looks concerned but allows the fight to continue.

Snapper Sansi moves forward, he swings a punch and upper cuts Blog Reader on their lower jaw: There are currently NO prime-time BBC shows created in the Midlands*

The crowd are on their feet, Blog Reader is on the ropes. Sansi shows no mercy as he piles into Blog Reader delivering devastating blow after blow: The BBC spend more on one of it’s buildings, Broadcasting House in London than it does in the entire Midlands*.

Blog Reader’s corner scream at the ref to end the fight. A left punch connects with Blog Reader’s right cheek spraying blood into the first three rows of the audience: A recent publication, The BBC Charter Renewal Plan, outlining the corporation’s plans for the next ten years failed to mention Birmingham and The Midlands once*.

Blog Reader, battered, bruised and bleeding is floored as his corner throw in the towel.

Despite a campaign by The Birmingham Post and regional MPs for the Midlands to get a fairer deal on it’s TV licence, the BBC continues to ignore the issue.

It’s time to give the BBC a black eye. Metaphorically of course, I would never advocate violence.

This week, Tyson Fury, the World Heavyweight Champion has made headlines for derogatory and unacceptable comments about Women and Homosexuals.  His unwelcome comments come at the same time as his nomination for BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2015.

The BBC refuse to take Tyson Fury’s name off the ticket despite a petition to do so attracting over 150,000 signatures on change.org. The BBC, refusing to listen to the very people who fund them! Now where have I heard that before?

If the BBC refuse to remove Tyson Fury from the competition, lets vote for him to win it and watch the reaction. Let’s see how the publicly funded corporation deal with the fallout from international commentators questioning why the BBC, the world’s biggest media company endorse a platform for the medieval and barbaric comments of Tyson Fury.

Let’s see just how much personality the previous winners have. Will they return their trophies distancing themselves from such a competition?

If the BBC refuse to listen to the very people who fund it’s existence, and continue to ignore the Midlands in their funding plans, lets send them a message. Vote for Tyson Fury to become the BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2015.
